Initiated on April 15, 2004, Jackie Robinson Day is celebrated each year on the anniversary of his Major League debut. On that date, all MLB on-field personnel wear jerseys bearing Robinson’s #42. This Colorado Rockies button-down, grey jersey with purple pinstripes was worn by Troy Tulowitzi on Jackie Robinson Day, 2009, in a Rockies 5-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Tulo was 1-4 with a run scored. Jersey reads Colorado across the chest in arcing purple, black and white letters, above a small 42 on the left torso area. The Rockies team patch is stitched on the left sleeve, while the back simply reads 42 in purple lettering. Signed on the front of the jersey, just north of the numeral 4 next to the buttons, is “Troy Tulowitzki 2” in black. The Majestic Authentic Collection tag is on the left front tail, denoting size 46. A small patch embroidered with “2” is stitched to the front right tail, hidden behind the button flap. Jersey shows moderate game use, and is accompanied by a JSA COA as well as MLB Authentication Hologram #LH270010.
