In the whole history of the game, no one has hit more triples (309) than Sam Crawford. Wahoo Sam (he was from Wahoo, Nebraska) was the premier slugger in the American League before Ty Cobb. In the days before the ball was juiced up, Crawford was a two-time home run champ and when Cobb came up, the two formed the greatest double-steal combo the game had ever seen. This store model Wright & Ditson Victor bat dates to the 1920's and carries Crawford's stamped endorsement on the center brand. The bat exhibits good use and has many ball marks and cleat imprints on its barrel. The company stamping is deep and perfect and the handle is un-cracked. Though we can not attribute this bat to Crawford, there is an illegible name and writing on the back barrel from where the bat was sent back to factory. Returning a favorite bat was commonly done when a player wished to have exact duplicates made. A date of "7-23-29" can just be made out. A great player-endorsed store model bat that was used on some professional level during the games "Golden Era". Letter of Authenticity from MEARS who have graded it Authentic.
