B.J. Upton was drafted second overall by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 2002 Amateur Draft. At the time of his major league debut on August 2, 2004, he was the youngest Devil Ray ever, and the youngest player in the major leagues that season. After 8 seasons with Tampa and 2 seasons in Atlanta, Upton was traded to the San Diego Padres, where he now goes by his given name, Melvin. This game used Devil Rays road jersey, #9, was worn by B.J. Upton in 2004. This is the only year Upton wore this Russell Athletic road gray uniform. Jersey reads Tampa Bay in green lettering across front, with Devil Rays logo on left sleeve. Jersey comes with a MEARS Letter of Opinion, with a Final Grade with Respect to Characteristics & Game Use of A5. Jersey has MEARS Authentic Hologram Sticker #30221 on front, lower left Russell Athletic patch.
