Her passbook, kept for an account she maintained in trust for her brother, Sven Gustaffson at The Manhattan Savings Bank (Bowery & Canal). Five leaves+covers, 3.5” x 4.5”, kept between January 6, 1945 and April 11, 1960. Offered together with a 8.5” x 3.5” receipt noting the deposit of the same funds ($7,393.19) into her account with The Chase Manhattan Bank on April 13, 1960. Light marginal wear, cancellation punches, else very fine condition overall.
According to her grand-niece, Garbo, who had experienced the bank failures of the Great Depression, kept her funds in a wide variety of bank accounts.
