A unique collection with an interesting history, this offering comes from the collection of Warren Arthur “Chip” Logan, son of Civil Rights activists Dr. Arthur Logan and Marian Bruce Logan. Included here are 10 vinyl LP’s that belonged to Logan’s parents, who, as high profile members of the Civil Rights movement, had some influential friends. Each LP is signed and personalized to Dr. and Marian Logan in some fashion, and include the signatures of musical luminaries such as Frank Sinatra (2 signed LP’s), Jimmy Jones (3), Willie “The Lion” Smith (3), Joe Williams and Clark Terry. Additionally, this collection includes several personal items previously belonging to Jackie Robinson. Jackie’s wife, Rachel, was godmother to Chip Logan, and following Jackie’s passing, she gifted these 2 items to Chip. First is a silver shaving bowl, circular with a 10” diameter. Inscription on the front of the bowl reads “SNOB * FATHER’S DAY WINNER * JACKIE ROBINSON * 1967”. Bowl shows significant tarnish due to age. The 2nd item gifted to Logan is a Polaroid Land Camera Model J66, which had been given to Jackie Robinson on Old Timer’s Day at Yankee Stadium in 1961. The camera comes in a handsome brown leather case with a clasp and leather handle. The case is inscribed with a Yankee Logo above the inscription “HONORING ALL-TIME YANKEES – DODGERS – GIANTS * OLD TIMERS DAY * SATURDAY, JULY 29, 1961 * YANKEE STADIUM * JACKIE ROBINSON”. Altogether a unique collection of items that have passed through the hands of some very important people.
