Already a three-time league MVP in his native Japan, Ichiro really came into his own when he debuted with the Mariners in 2001. In his monster rookie season he was named both the AL’s Rookie of the Year AND the league MVP. 2002 was almost a duplicate of his rookie year and he became only the 6th man in MLB history to record 200 or more hits in his first two seasons.
