Up until he retired at the age of 38, Gary Carter was known to fans and teammates as "The Kid". This H&B bat dates from the late 1970's when the Hall of Fame backstop really was a "kid" - 1978 and 1979, his first two break-out seasons in the majors. The Hillerich & Bradsby P89 model bat shows moderate used and has a repaired crack. The Kid's number "8" is on the knob end. A great gamer used very early in Carter's long Hall of Fame career.
