In 1977 Reggie Jackson had something to prove. Sure he'd been a star with Oakland and Baltimore, but now he was putting on the pinstripes as a New York Yankee. Reggie's huge contract meant the public demanded results from the temperamental star and boy did he provide it! Throughout the summer of '77 Jackson's bat propelled the Yanks through a see-saw pennant race on the field peppered with feuds with manager Billy Martin and the Press. The results were one of the most memorable seasons in Yankees history and the first of two World Series Championships. This bat looks every inch like the stick used by a guy trying to prove he is the biggest star in the game. Reggie's Adirondack Big Stick bat shows tremendous game use with a cracked knob. There are many ball marks and stitch impressions covering the barrel along with leather ball scuffs and bat rack paint streaks. The handle has been sanded to enhance the grip and his famous number "44" has been hand written in marker on the knob end. Reggie has signed the bat's barrel in black marker and inscribed "To Rickey, my brother's son HR. #29th and 30th 30+100 vs. Det 1977" - meaning his 30th home run was also his 100th RBI of the season. Jackson also included his number "44" and "HOF93 Mr. October" and "Jan 22/05". A true gamer from one of the most exciting seasons in Yankee history used by the guy who made it so. Letter of Authenticity (1B06599) from PSA/DNA.
