By the time the Yankees clawed their way back to the World Series in 1976, Roy White was the club veteran. The outfielder had been a star ever since his arrival back in 1965 and he gave Yankee fans someone to cheer during the lean 1960's and early 70's. White has his final moment of pinstripe glory in Game 3 of the 1978 World Series. LA had taken the first two games and things looked grim for the New Yorkers. Coming to bat against Don Sutton in the first inning of the third game, Roy White hit a solo home run, giving the Yanks the lead they never relinquished. That game was the turning point and the Yanks won in six hard-fought games. Although this Roy White gamer is marked "1977 World Series" in black and white ink on the barrel and "GAME 3 HR vs DODGERS" by Roy White himself, it was actually made and used during 1979, his final season in New York. Hillerich & Bradsby T141 shows awesome game use - an approximately 1" x 6" piece is missing from the handle which was been secured with clubhouse nails. The barrel displays many ball marks and scuffs from repeated contact as well as cleat impressions and bat rack streaks. Both ends of the stick show considerable wear from contact with the ground and the handle shows the residue of both pine tar and athletic tape. White has signed the barrel in black marker, making this a great gamer from a Yankee great. Letter of Authentication (1B06601) from PSA/DNA.
