Ken Venturi came within one stroke of becoming the first amateur to win the Masters in 1956. After turning pro, Venturi was neck and neck with Arnold Palmer until an automobile accident derailed his career. After several years of sub-par performance, Venturi miraculously turned it around in 1964 when he won the U.S. Open and was named both Sports Illustrated's "Sportsman of the Year" and the PGA's "Player of the Year". This is the 3 wood used by Venturi to win the 1964 Open. Interestingly, this 3 wood has its own special story: 4-time U.S. Open winner Ben Hogan gave Venturi this club in 1960! So not only is this the club that won the US Open but it also once belonged to one of the greatest golfers in history. The Ben Hogan model club shows good use with the scuffs and marks expected on a well used stick. Venturi signed the club's head in black marker making this an especially notable piece of gold history. Accompanied by a hand written and signed letter from Venturi attesting to the clubs provenance. Letter of Authenticity (M92889) from JSA.
