Legendary pop star, composer, songwriter, and recording artist John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England in 1940. He gained fame during a truly unique career as the Beatles’ rhythm guitarist, keyboard player, and vocalist, and as a songwriting partner with Paul McCartney. His murder in December, 1980, left a void in the hearts of countless fans and, of secondary importance, forever dashed the world’s hopes for an eventual Beatles reunion. A magnificent John Lennon signed piece is presented here. This is an 8” x 10” color image of Lennon that bears his distinctive and flowing red ballpoint signature at the lower right. The signed depiction is accompanied by an LOA from noted Beatles autograph specialist Frank Caiazzo. In describing the features of the item, Caiazzo writes, in part, “The photograph … was included within the Beatles’ self-titled album release known as the ‘White Album.’ … The signature dates from the mid-1970’s, and it is very reminiscent of the style of autograph which appeared on items he was signing while he was the special guest host of the WFIL Radio ‘Helping Hands Marathon,’ which took place in Philadelphia during the weekend of May 16-18, 1975. Lennon was available to ‘meet and greet,’ and signed for many people during his 3-day stint at this charity event.” This is a superb example of a notoriously challenging and widely sought-after signature; its medium offers the bonus attribute of extremely pleasing display quality. LOA from Frank Caiazzo. LOA from PSA/DNA with a grade of Nr mint-Mint '8'.
