Ichiro Suzuki signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2001, the first Japanese born position player in major league history. In his rookie season Ichiro staked his claim as one of baseball’s great hitters, leading the league with a .350 BA and 242 hits en route to the AL RoY and AL MVP awards. He would achieve 200+ hits in 10 straight seasons to start his career, winning a 2nd AL batting title in 2004. Flash forward to 2015: With a career hit total of 2,844, Ichiro signs a 1-year contract with the Miami Marlins. Only baseball legends remain ahead of him on the All-Time Hits list, and on May 22nd he passes the most iconic player in baseball history. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, with the Marlins leading 1-0 and facing Baltimore’s Ubaldo Jimenez, Ichiro hits a 3-2 fastball into left field for his 2,874th career hit, passing Babe Ruth for 42nd all-time. He would finish the game 2-4 with a walk and a run scored as the Marlins fell to the Orioles 8-5. This Miami Marlins home jersey, #51, was game worn by Ichiro on that historic day, May 22, 2015. Jersey is white mesh, size 42, with Miami across front, Ichiro 51 on back in black lettering. MLB logo is located on the back just below the neckline. The multi-colored Marlins M logo can be found on the left sleeve. Item comes only with MLB Hologram Authentication sticker #HZ672675 on front of the jersey, located on the lower left on the MLB Authentic Majestic patch.
