Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by PSA. A very desirable ticket stub from a magical World Series is presented. The 1927 season was one of the most memorable years in baseball history due to the record-setting performances of Babe Ruth and the fabled "Murderer's Row" New York Yankees line-up. Ruth had broken his own home run record during that year's regular season by hitting an unbelievable 60 home runs. Simultaneously, his teammates embarked on a campaign that solidified their reputation as the greatest team in baseball history. The Yankees led the league in virtually every major hitting category that year, while the underrated pitching staff boasted the lowest earned run average in the game. The Yankees continued their awe-inspiring dominance in 1927's season-concluding "Fall Classic." In the penultimate game of the Championship duel, Ruth belted a 3-run homer and Herb Pennock pitched a masterful 3-hitter in an 8-1 victory at Yankee Stadium. Ruth's clout was the first of two that the Babe recorded in the 1927 Series (he hit another in Game 4). The homer was his ninth in Series play, of an eventual fifteen, and he held the record with that total until the mark was eclipsed by fellow Yankee Mickey Mantle in 1964. Ruth went 6 for 15 (a .400 average) with two homers and 7 RBI in the 1927 Yankees' four-game World Series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
