Jim Thome had a 22-year career in which he smacked 612 home runs, good for seventh all-time. The first baseman was a five-time All-Star with the Indians, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox. He played his first 12 years in Cleveland.
This uniform is in the 1975 Cleveland Indians motif and part of a Throw Back the Clock game in 1995, Thome’s fifth season with the team. It consists of a red pullover jersey with Thome’s number “25” on the back and “INDIANS” stitched in white-on-navy blue tackle twill. The left sleeve has a circular Indians logo featuring an Indian holding a bat with a baseball stitching background. The collar and sleeve cuffs are white and navy blue. The inside collar has a “Mitchell & Ness” tag along with a “Size XXL” tag underneath. On the inside right side stitching, there is an “AFL CIO CLC UNITED WORKERS” tag.
The pants are white with red, white and navy blue stripes running down the outside of each leg and around the waist. There is a “Mitchell & Ness” tag inside below the waist on the back and a “Size 36” and “6’’” tag inside on the front to indicate the size and an additional six inches added to the inseam. They have a two-snap and zipper closure and two back pockets. The left back pocket has a button closure. The bottom of each leg has elastic to allow Thome to wear the pants with high socks like he typically did. Both the jersey and pants have stamps reading “Purchased from CLEVELAND INDIANS” stamped inside. The jersey exhibits evidence of appropriate use for a one game jersey and appears to be all original. The jersey comes with an LOA from Dave Miedema, noted sports jersey expert.
