“Old Reliable” wound up his 11-year career in 1950, batting .272 despite a season plagued by injuries. Known as the Yankees finest clutch hitter, Henrich is best remembered for being the man whose smart thinking enabled him to dash to first after Brooklyn catcher Mickey Owen dropped a third strike in the 1941 World Series. Henrich’s heads-up play sparked the Yankees to rally and win the game. The Hillerich & Bradsby D29 model bat is extremely rare, with a center brand variation only used by H&B during the 1950 season, representing only the third example of this center brand in the PSA/DNA database of all the bats they have examined. This extremely rare bat exhibits excellent use and is uncracked. Several ball and stitch impressions can be seen on the barrel and Henrich has enhanced the bats grip by scoring the handle. The model number “D29” is stamped into the bats knob end. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat GU 8.
