Willard Mullin (1902-1978) is the most avidly collected sports cartoonist of them all, and this wonderful, original rendition of "The Brooklyn Bum" showcases his most famous creation. The offered example depicts the team's woebegone mascot attempting to gamble with the fortunes governing baseball, circa 1944, and the Bum's several expressions are all priceless. The piece exhibits editorial marks including retouch paint, tape and grease pencil, none of which affect Mullin's classic character. Matted and framed to 25-3/4” x 20-3/4” overall dimensions.
