Lot #7: Miguel Cotto's Stripped WBC Belt! 2015 Miguel Cotto World Middleweight Title Belt for Alvarez Match (Pantojas LOA)

Description

Up for Consideration is a very rare belt manufactured by the WBC for the Nov. 21, 2015 World Middleweight Championship match between Miguel Angel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Both fighters looked on with anticipation at this “Clash of the Titans” bout which saw Canelo Alvarez come out victorious. But he had to go through the current WBC champion Miguel Cotto to get there. At stake initially was the World Middleweight belt held by Cotto. Negotiations between the Cotto camp and the WBC over sanctioning fees bogged down and the world saw the WBC strip Cotto of his belt and declare it vacant, only being contested for by Alvarez if he were to win the match, which he did. Originally planned to be presented to Cotto if he won the bout, this magnificent new belt was made before he was stripped of his current title by the WBC. Since Cotto was no longer fighting for a belt, this belt was not used and another issued to Alvarez. It is a legendary trademarked WBC green belt in perfect shape, with a large circular logo of the WBC and adornment photos of both combatants as well as the late President of the WBC, Jose Sulaiman, and Muhammad Ali along with legendary champions Marvin Hagler, and Carlos Monzon. The back of the belt features WBC manufacturing information and the belt comes in a smart leather briefcase with WBC logo on front. This is a narrow window of opportunity to claim the belt that Cotto couldn't - the belt that 'never was' for Miguel Cotto. He may not have won this title belt for his collection, but you can win it for yours! This item comes with a LOA from Angel Pantojas.
